Diving the El Aguila Shipwreck – Roatan, Honduras

This was my first wreck dive and it was a great one! The El Aguila (Spanish for ‘The Eagle’) wreck is a ship that was intentionally sunk back in the 1990s by Anthony’s Key Resort. Until recent years the hull remained in one piece along the ocean floor but when Hurricane Mitch, the worst in Caribbean history, came through the ship was split into the three sections that are spread across the sea floor today. One of its inhabitants is an unusually friendly and large green moray eel. She even seems to like being petted!
